A Weekend in Paris

Meine Schwester und ich planen immer wieder Städtetrips durch Europa. Dieses Mal wollten wir Paris erkunden.

Wart ihr auch schon in Paris? Ich war zuletzt als Kind dort - allerdings nicht wirklich in der Stadt selbst, sondern im Disneyland Resort Paris!

Für unser verlängertes Wochenende von Donnerstag bis Sonntag im Mai sind wir mit dem Zug gereist. Die Fahrt ab Zürich Hauptbahnhof mit dem TGV Lyria ist sehr bequem und angenehm, und in ca. 4 Stunden ist man bereits am Gare de Lyon, von wo aus es nicht mehr weit ins Stadtzentrum ist.

Was ich vorweg sagen muss, ist, dass die Zeit echt nicht ausreicht, um annähernd alles zu sehen und zu entdecken! Paris hat so unglaublich viel zu bieten. Für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei – Kultur, Architektur, Kulinarik und Shopping -, deshalb ist es wichtig, ein zentral gelegenes Hotel zu buchen. Wir haben im Renaissance Le Parc Trocadéro übernachtet, welches nur 5 Minuten zu Fuss vom Eiffelturm gelegen ist.

Have you already been to Paris? I was there the last time when I was still little, although not in the City itself but in Disneyland Resort Paris!

For our prolonged weekend from Thursday to Sunday in May we were travelling by train. The ride on the TGV Lyria departing from Zurich main station is very comfortable and quick. It only takes about 4 hours to arrive at Gare de Lyon, from where it’s not far to downtown Paris.

First and foremost, I must tell you that the couple of days were nowhere near enough time to see and experience everything. Paris has so much to offer for each and every taste and preference – culture, architecture, culinary arts and shopping -, therefore, it’s important to book at a centrally located hotel. We were staying at the Renaissance Le Parc Trocadéro, which is only a 5 minute walk from Eiffel Tower.

Ich empfehle euch, euer Hotel ohne Frühstück zu buchen, denn, um den Parisian vibe einzufangen, lohnt es sich in den Cafés zu frühstücken.

I would recommend that you book your hotel stay without breakfast because, to catch the Parisian vibe, it’s definitely worth the while to have breakfast in one of the many lovely Cafés.

Kulinarisch hat Paris so viel zu bieten. Es ist echt nicht einfach ein Restaurant auszuwählen! Egal, wo wir waren, wir haben immer sehr lecker gegessen – Hammer! Im Restaurant Kong zum Beispiel war die Kulisse mega schön. Wir sassen unter einer grossen Glaskuppel mit Aussicht über die Stadt.

Paris has a lot to offer in culinary terms. It’s really not easy to choose a restaurant! No matter where we’d been, we always enjoyed very delicious courses – awesome! For example, in the restaurant Kong the ambience is very beautiful. We were sitting under a generous glass dome providing an excellent view over the city.

Nebst einem Besuch beim Eiffelturm und vielem mehr sind wir einen Nachmittag lang durch das Quartier Montmartre und dessen schöne Gassen geschlendert und schliesslich bei der Basilika Sacré-Coeur angekommen.

Apart from a visit to the Eiffel Tower and several other places, we took an afternoon stroll through Quartier Montmartre and its pittoresque alleys ending up at Basilika Sacré-Coeur.

Für die Shopping Queens und Kings unter euch kann ich sagen - an Paris gefällt mir besonders gut, dass sich die Geschäfte nicht wie an der Oxford Street in London hauptsächlich an einer Strasse konzentrieren, sondern sich auf verschiedene Quartiere verteilen.

For the shopping queens and kings amongst you, let me tell you – what I especially like about Paris is the fact, that the stores aren’t just concentrated on one street like on Oxford Street in London, but are situated in various quarters.

Dieses Wochenende in Paris hat meiner Schwester und mir unglaublich gut gefallen. Nicht nur die Stadt hat uns in ihren Bann gezogen, sondern auch die Menschen dort, die immer überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit waren. Diese Reise ist eine unserer Highlights, und wir sind uns schon sicher, dass wir zurückkehren werden!

My sister and I have really enjoyed this weekend in Paris and have taken great pleasure in it. Not only have this city but also its people, who are very friendly, kind and helpful, cast a spell over us. This trip has been a highlight through and through, and we are already certain that we’ll return in the near future!
